  My husband and I arrived here on holiday early August. It is a lovely little seaside resort with lots of tourists - mostly non UK. Despite thinking it v safe during the week I was attacked in broad daylight by a youth on a motor scooter and had my gold chain ripped from my neck. We had to walk at least 2 miles to report to police who advised that we needed passport and medical report to proceed. We walked back to town, did this and walked back to police station only to find no one there (this despite being told to return that afternoon). Eventually we spoke to officer going off duty who tried his best not to help but eventually got us a duty officer on phone who spoke a little English. He also tried to avoid helping but eventually returned to station and took report despite tellinge on phone system was down. An absolute fiasco. Only today we had another such incident in Tarragona. We did not even try to report it. We will however be writing to Spanish embassy on return to UK. If the mayor of Barcelona wants to reduce tourist numbers he can count us in. We won't be back to Spain, ever. We are appalled at the way we've been treated.
